PURTREX Filtering Cartridges
The Purtrex depth filter is an exceptional value filter for general purpose applications where long life, high purity and low change-out frequency are required. Purtrex is a 100% pure polypropylene depth filter with exceptional dirt-holding capacity made with GE’s patented meltblown microfiber technology.
The Purtrex graded density filter matrix (lower density at the surface of the filter with progressively higher density towards the center) captures particles across the entire filter depth. This results in a longer service life and a lower number of filter changes than with conventional filters with thread winding or resin bonding.
Purtrex contains no wetting agents, solvents, antistatic agents or binders and meets FDA requirements for food and beverage contact. The filter burns to trace amounts of ash and can be easily disposed of.
Typical applications
– Drinking water filtration
– Chemical filtration – wide chemical compatibility
– Galvanic baths
– Amine filtration
– Meets FDA requirements for contact with food and beverages
General characteristics
Purtrex filters are available in the following nominal micron pore sizes: 1, 3, 5, 10, 20, 30, 50 and 75 microns. Tables 1, 2, 3 and 4 provide further details on materials of construction, dimensions, flow capacity and ordering information.
Additional information
Purtrex Depth cartridge filters are manufactured from thermally bonded polypropylene fibers. GE certifies that no resin binders, lubricants, antistatic agents, release agents or other additives are used in the manufacture of these cartridges and that the resin used to manufacture the filter media meets the food contact requirements of FDA 21 CFR regulations. If necessary, use only FDA-compliant sealing materials and end adapters. GE filter cartridges are designed and manufactured to withstand a variety of chemical solutions. Conditions vary by application and the user should carefully check chemical compatibility.
